About me

Hi, my name is Sergei Markochev, I'm a passionate Data Scientist and Machine Learning Modeler with 10+ years of industry experience based in London, UK.

I graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology where I received a PhD degree in 2013. My research was focused on experimental investigation of very rare nuclear decays, modern scintillation materials and methods of digital signal processing applied to signals from nuclear detectors. I also taught labs and seminars in Optics, Atomic and Nuclear Physics for undergraduate students of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology for 2 years.

Since 2014 I have been living in London, UK, and working as a Data Scientist and AI/ML hands-on developer. I led end-to-end projects delivery and provided technical expertise for complex decision problems for FTSE 100 companies, SME businesses and startups; hired talents, led and managed teams up to 10 people. Since 2021 I have been working as a freelance Data Science & Machine Learning consultant on Toptal.

My achievements so far include one patent (in lead-acid battery capacity estimation), the 1st place in the Data Science competition (about aircraft localization) and tens of successfully completed projects in Clean Energy, Retail, Real Estate, AdTech, IoT and Sensors industries. I'm applying the latest technology in Data Science, Machine Learning & AI, developing state-of-the-art models and productionizing solutions according to client needs.
